Did you know the word "breakfast" comes from the phrase "to break ones fast"?
It's the first food you eat to end your nightly fast.
That first food you put into your body can make all the difference in how you eat and feel throughout the rest of your day.
If you are starting out with sugary foods like cereal, oatmeal, waffles, yogurt, or pastries, you will feel more hungry and crave more sweets throughout the day.
I want to help you feel better and be healthier so you can live a long life and feel amazing.
So here are a few recipes to start your day out right using HEAL Farms Mild Italian Sausage.
Open-Face Sausage Sandwich
Adam goes crazy for these things. We don't eat store-bought bread anymore, so I put together this easy way to still have a delicious breakfast sandwich.
(I took this picture and I promise, it tastes better than it looks haha)
Ingredients:
- 1 Package of Paleo Pancake mix (I use Birch Benders)
- Coconut or avocado oil
- 1 Lb. Chub of HEAL Farms Mild Italian Chicken Sausage
- HEAL Farms Eggs (1 egg per sandwich)
- Mayonnaise (or any desired sauce like mustard, buffalo, or ranch)
- Sliced Cheese (we use raw cheddar)
Directions:
Make pancakes according to the directions on the package and set aside.
Lightly coat skillet with coconut or avocado oil.
Scoop out large spoonful of sausage with a spoon and smash flat onto skillet to make round sausage patties the size you prefer.
Cook on medium heat until almost cooked through, then flip to other side. Each side should be golden brown.
Then cook your eggs however your prefer. Adam likes them fried over easy.
Slap a slice of cheese over it and allow to melt.
Lastly, assemble! It goes pancake, mayo, sausage, egg, cheese. We eat them open-faced but you can absolutely top it with another pancake.
Veggie Breakfast Skillet
This meal is packed with nutrition! So good, I could eat it for lunch and dinner too.

Ingredients:
1 Tablespoon Coconut Oil or Avocado Oil
1 Diced Red Bell Pepper
1 1/2 Cups Chopped Zucchini
2 Cups Cubed Butternut Squash (fresh or use a package)
1 Lb. Chub HEAL Farms Mild Italian Sausage
1/2 Teaspoon Cajun Spice
1 Teaspoon Onion Powder
1 Teaspoon Garlic Powder
Black Pepper, to taste.
(Highly recommended to top with a fried egg and shredded cheese)
Directions:
Preheat a large skillet on the stove over medium heat and add oil to the skillet.
Add the chopped red bell pepper and zucchini to the skillet with the Cajun spice. Sauté for about 2-3 minutes.
Add the butternut squash cubes and sauté together for about 3-5 minutes until vegetables begin to soften.
Add the breakfast sausage to the skillet along with the onion powder, garlic powder, and black pepper, breaking up the sausage as it cooks.
Stir regularly until the sausage is browned and cooked through. By this time, the veggies will be soft and ready as well.
We love to top it with some shredded cheese, cover with a lid so it melts and serve with a fried egg on top- YUM

Scrumptious Egg Puff Casserole
This is one I like to make for large family gatherings, like Easter breakfast or Christmas morning. Its also heats well in the microwave so leftovers are still great.
